The art features a labourer from Chennai, south India. She is 70 years of age and, for 14 hours each day carries a heavy load of materials in a basket that is balanced on her head. She works for her daily bread. She feeds her grandchildren and her dying daughter who all live on the streets of the city. There is no end to this woman's work. There is no option also. She accepts her duty and somehow, through grit, pain and determination, transforms every day to provide for her family, for their future. Her motivation is simple…..she works, she feeds, one day they will work, and they will eat.
